Memory 19 Specifications

Ballast
The Memory is ballasted with internal ballast, as were her wooden ancestors. As designed, this is lead ingots contained within compartments on either side of the centreplate case. This is of course removable, making the Memory very light for manoeuvring on shore and at about one ton fully ballasted, including trailer, means she can easily be towed behind a substantial car or 4X4. The 50Kg centreplate is designed to fit under the cockpit sole, and is easily raised on it's own block and tackle.

Joinery
This is carried out to a high standard using solid mahogany for the curved cockpit seats, coamings, rubbing bands and so on. The cockpit sole is of resinous, straight grained fir in keeping with yachts of this era.

Spars, Sails & Rigging
The solid spars are made by 'Collars' in the traditional method using 'clear and best' spar grade quality Oregon Pine with Ash for the leathered gaff and boom jaws. The working sails are tan 6oz terylene, the mainsail has two rows of slab reefing points and the jib may be equipped with an optional bronze Wycombe martin roller furling gear enabling the sails to be handled from the cockpit. For racing, we offer the jackyard topsail with its associated yards and rigging. The standard keel steeped mast is substantially stayed by four 6mm stainless steel shrouds and a forestay braced against the chain bobstay. Adjustment may be made by lanyard or, optionally, by bottle screws. The mast can be deck stepped in a tabernacle for easy lowering.

Exterior Fittings
All of the metal fittings on the Memory are robustly made in steel for strength and are hot dipped galvanised for a lasting finish or alternatively in polished bronze for a more yachty appearance. The Memory is deliberately kept as sparse and simple as possible yet is extremely practical with a large aft locker and room for chain (etc.) stowage forward in the forepeak. Essentials such as the bilge pump are included as standard and there is a wide range of equipment which we will be most happy to supply to meet customers' individual requirements.

Auxiliary Propulsion
This can be tailored to the owner's choice and can range from a sculling oar over the transom to the usual 4, 5 or 6 Hp outboard on a bracket or in an outboard well, to the installation of a small inboard engine.

Options and Choices
Memory's have the advantage of not being built on a production line and so we can offer a wide range of options and accessories to enable us to tailor the boat to your needs. We have been sailing the Memory for some years and can offer, in addition to this experience, the usual boatyard facilities to repair and maintain these craft. There are many options available to suit: topsail, specialist rigging, tabernacle mast, cushions and covers, antifouling and epoxy coatings, engine options, warps and fenders and so on. We are happy to discuss your requirements and put together a package price for you.
